About Laurentian University

Laurentian University, established in 1960 and opening its current campus in 1964, is a mid-sized, bilingual public research institution located in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. Serving around 7,000–9,000 students, including approximately 350 international students, it offers undergraduate and graduate programs across faculties such as Arts, Science, Engineering, Business, and Indigenous Studies. Known for its tricultural mandate (English, French, Indigenous) and strong engagement with Indigenous education and research, Laurentian hosts 10 Canada Research Chairs and manages 14 research centres. With its picturesque lakeside campus and deep roots in mining and northern community partnerships, Laurentian continues to offer focused academic programs and serve as a key cultural and educational hub in Northern Ontario.
